Margali  Month(Mid of December to Mid of January) is considered as the beginning of Winter Climate. Śaivites (One who pray Lord Shiva) refer this month as Deiva's Month. This means that Margali Month is specially meant for praying God. As this month Margali is dedicated specially for praying God, no auspicious functions use to be held in this month.

It is recorded in the history as Mahabaratha War was held in the month of Margali.

Only in this Margali Month Lord Indran made the Gokula region fill with flood by pouring a heavy rain. And when the people of Gokula region were suffering in search of shelter, Lord Krishna made a shelter by raising a great big mountain named Govarthana Giri and saved them.

In this month Lord Aandaal use to get up early in the morning every day and go to Vaigai River bank side and sing a Paasuram on each day. This was considered by Lord Vishnu as she rendered it to him and as she fell on his feet for blessings. And this made Lord Vishnu to marry Lord Aandaal.

          This is the reason why everyone wake up early in the morning during the month of Margali and get blessings from Lord Vishnu and Lord Aandaal. Everyone pray for all their tasks of the day to be successful without any hindrance.
